Food Waste Accordion

The last project for our second Intro Visual Communication Design course was a portfolio book. We were to create a collage with the topic of food. I used the topic of food waste, to continue the narrative that I had been using for the previous two projects. In my collage, it starts dark, to help portray what the planet is like with all of the food waste we produce, and gets brighter as towards the end of the collage to show the user hope as to what it could be like if we were to reduce our amount of waste.

Process

The process for this project consisted of researching food waste facts and finding out how much food is wasted on average/ what we can do about it. I started gathering inspiration for collage style posters and then started gathering images that I wanted to use and roughly laid them out on the spread. I knew that I wanted the beginning of the spread to focus on food waste, and then end with what we can do about it. The beginning of the spread is darker, depicting the current conditions we are living with, and continues to get brighter as the spread goes on to show the potential for our future if we start making changes.
